Ok, this is a fanfic that I have been writing for a while now and I've finally decided to post it on the net to see what others think of it. All I can say now is I hope you enjoy it and look forwards to reading the next parts.
Any advice or comments would be good, thanks.

Destinies Combined PT.1

It was the first day back in school for Kiba, even though his classmates had been back two weeks already. Things where different for him, he had been away in Japan, training as a ninja. Before he had left, Tessin, sensei's son of the Ninja Academy in which he had stayed, had given him five orbs. These orbs were told to hold great power, but their power could only be unlocked by the chosen five, when each found their inner powers. In the time of their great need this power will come to life, giving hope to those few who had none.

Another thing that was strange about Kiba was that he chose against joining the popular crowd like the rest of his so called friends in year seven. It had taken time, but now he was friends with a girl. This girl had never had anyone before now. Now in year eleven, each of them had grown to hate all of those around them, not by choice, but from fear. As Yoda says 'fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering,' this is what had happened to them both. Trust outside of their separate Dojo's was minimal. Their honour and skill was flawless, nothing could get past them. The evil ones, as each had named the poplars, had already caught up with them, as the two met for the first time in a while.

They came form all around the school, somehow drawn towards the 'freaks' as they had named those who fought against them. They where there for one reason, get rid of those who would not join. It was Kiba's and Shadow's time, as they had decided unconsciously.

The gang slowly gathered around, each one wanting a piece of the bloodbath that was about to take place. Unknown to them though, was the secret training each had done, not out of fear as one might expect, but out of the love of the martial arts.

Until this point, Shadow and Kiba had been in a deep discussion and Kiba had given her two of the orbs to take care of. All at once the group surrounding the two closed ranks so that nothing could get through their human made barrier. Each knew what was happening; there was no talk between them and 'the evil ones,' only a sudden surge of flying fists as they attacked. This attack was what each had feared but knew it was coming and so where ready for it. Each went into their own stances; Shadow's a fairly high but quite a long stance, somewhere between a walking and a long stance. Kiba was in a different stance altogether, his stance was higher, more of a walking stance, but all of his weight was on his back leg.

A fist aimed for the head, quickly Shadow had blocked, knocking the arm away, only to have a badly formed kick to follow. This kick was easily blocked by a low block but from behind a kick came to the knee. Luckily for her, it did no damage as it connected only to the lower leg. One of the group had pulled out a metal bar and swung it dangerously around like a primitive species would a club. This metal bar was swung clumsily at her head; quickly Shadow ducked and then dived, tucked her head in and used the momentum of the dive to role over and back onto her feet. Once here, she ducked swiftly as the metal bar was once more swung dangerously close to her head. Rapidly, she swept her foot around in a circle, sending the attackers closest to her to the floor as their point of balance was taken from under them. Again the attacker with the metal bar came, bringing the metal bar down towards Shadow's head, only to find that he had run into a well planted side kick that sent him down, letting the metal bar spin across the ground out of his reach.

Kiba was fighting entirely differently, him dodging then countering each attack, sending one after another down. One pulled out a flick knife, bearing it out in front of him as if it where a barrier, one of which would strike fear in those who came before it. This was not so in this case however, quicker than the eye could follow, Kiba's attack came. He used his right leg in a crescent kick and hit the knife out of the others hand, then using a back fist, hit the other in the lower chest, winding him badly. As he doubled over, trying to gain a breath, Kiba rolled over his back and kicked out at another one, hitting him square in the chest sending him flying in the opposite direction. Another came with a roundhouse kick to the head, Kiba quickly ducked and went under the attack, taking her out with a strike to the stomach that sent her down and out of the fight, for now. All at once, two attacked either side of him, quickly Kiba flipped over one of the two, kicking each to the ground as he went and ended up back to back with Shadow. Suddenly another came forward out of the crowd with a viscous attack, again with a knife; aiming the attack on Kiba who was finishing off another who had attacked him from behind. Shadow, who was taking out another saw the attack coming from the corner of her eye, swiftly she grabbed hold of the attackers hand; using one of the pressure points she knew, she made him loose a grip on his knife. As she proceeded to send this attacker down, the group suddenly closed in. With a quick nod to each other, Shadow and Kiba both flipped over the rest of the group, ending up on the other side of them; they began to run, knowing that this fight was a loosing battle. It took only a few seconds for the crowd to react to what was happening, they too began to run, the only sound coming from them was the stamping of feet on the solid tarmac.

Running around the side of the building, a guard rail and a low roof came up in front of the two fleeing. With a sudden burst of speed both shot like two bullets towards the railings. Each kept at pace with the other and leapt into the air at the same time, like synchronized divers, each used the railing to give them an extra boost and grabbed the bottom of the roof at the same time. Quickly, each pulled themselves up and out of sight just in time as the first of the group came around the corner. To the mob below, it was as though both Kiba and Shadow had just disappeared.

For a few minutes, the search of the area continued, forcing the two hiding on the school roof to remain where they where behind a convenient wall. Neither made a move to continue running as one of the assailants climbed up and joined them. They moved quickly, checking every place where someone could hide. If Shadow and Kiba where found, there would be nowhere for them to run, it would be all over for them. But, just as suddenly as it began, the ones looking for them suddenly cried out in pain, as the creatures all fought to remain in there captives bodies. The sound was so horrorfying that Kiba and Shadow held there hands ever there ears in an attempt to block out the crys. As the final cry abated and the humans took back there contol, the few who had climbed onto the roof gazed around confused, wondering why they where up on the roof. Each had a vague memory of looking for something, but that something they where looking for could not be recalled. Slowly, each moved to the edge of the roof and jumped down with soft thuds and occasionally a slight cry of pain.

At once, Kiba and Shadow knew it was over for now and each relaxed slightly. Both where shaking a little as the adrenalin that had been pumping through there blood moments ago wore off. It didn't take long for them to find their words.

'You OK?' Shadow asked Kiba as she slowly rolled up the sleeve of her right arm, checking for any damage that may have been caused.

'Nothing broken if that's what you mean.'

'We have to leave here, we can't stay and longer. If we stay, where going to end up like those before us,' Shadow continued, ignoring the sarcasm thrown back at her.

Both were afraid of what was happening and what lay ahead in the future. Whilst she was saying this, Kiba's hand had moved suddenly to the pocket in his jacket and removed his bag of orbs. His face suddenly went pale. The bag that had once held the remaining three orbs, now held one. He slowly picked out the lonely orb and studied it closely, realising inwardly that he had broken his promise to Tessin. He had promised to take care of the orbs and give them to the chosen five, but now, this would never happen.

'I've lost them,' Kiba muttered more to himself than anyone else. Suddenly anger rose up in him and he struck out at a nearby wall, causing small pieces of rubble to fall off the side of the wall and onto the small area of low roofing.

'Calm,' Shadow muttered as she herself checked her own, to only cringe when one, as lonely as Kiba's was pulled out of her own pocket. 'Who knows, maybe... maybe this is what's meant to happen,' she finally said as Kiba once again sat against the opposite wall and leaned against it, anger now abated as the adrenalin wore off.

'I just... I can't believe this has happened; I've not been here more than a day and it's all begun again.' said Kiba who was now getting back to his feet as quickly as he sat down.

'Old allies have become new enemies. I can feel myself changing; soon the power is going to become too great for both of us. Our only hope is to leave. I can see that change in you, now anger shows, violence. Everything that we've been taught not to do is showing its ugly head. I don't want to become like the others.' Shadow finally finished, also now getting to her feet and staring out at the view that seemed to stretch away into nothing, miles and miles of freedom, but none for them, for they could not leave.

The borders of the town where secretly guarded, trapping those who where still themselves, allowing their own kind to leave and spread their evil ways throughout the surrounding population. This place of which they where at was a doorway to pure evil, hell itself was open for business and so they traded the lives of the living for the parts of the devil itself.

Moving as the shadow that he was. Cyclone had learned quickly how to do this. He knew something had happened again, it always did. He'd watched out for more people like him, many of whom he found, turned on him within a few weeks.

Though this had happened many a time, he'd noticed two who had managed to stick together throughout the years. He envied them both, having such a bond was completely beyond him. He missed his family, but after what he'd seen around him, he gathered their death was a good thing, well, from a certain point of view.

He'd watched the fight that had taken place a few moments ago, cautiously he moved into the area in which he saw it fall, what he had seen he did not know. The sound of the mob dissipated and he knew that the fight that had occurred moments ago was over, though what was happening would probably never really be over. Cautiously he moved towards it, for some unknown reason he felt drawn towards this thing. Maybe it was the small bit of hope that drove him on, the hope that if he found the thing that had been dropped during the fight and gave it back to the two, he could become friends with them. They could fight this thing together, maybe... No, it could never happen, not to him. The only people who had ever cared for him were gone, he had to make his own way here, others would just get in his way. Angrily, he kicked at a pile of leaves that where piled up at his feet; uncovering what he had been looking for. Slowly, he bent down to pick it up, finding that it was a glass, it let light through, but for some strange reason, Cyclone could not see through it.

Whilst Cyclone had been inspecting the orb, he had not noticed two people heading his way, carrying out a hushed conversation.

Destinies Combined PT.2

It had been a strange day; Luke thought as he followed his friends around the side of the school towards the lunch hall. Something had happened earlier that day. He had somehow found himself on the school roof without any recollection of getting up there. Neither did his friends, but they didn't seem to be as bothered by it as he did.

"Hey Luke, heads up!" Called Steven as a pile of leaves suddenly covered him. He had been so deep in thought that he hadn't noticed the leaf fight break out. It was all-out war as far as his friends where concerned as they ran around, shouting at the top of their voices. He laughed and began to scoop up a pile of his own to throw back, but as he did so, Tom ran up behind him and shoved a pile down his back. Everyone began to laugh as he let out a yelp and danced around to get the stuff out of his clothes.

"That's it, this means war!" He shouted through his laughter and began to run at Tom with his own pile of leaves. They all scattered. He threw the leaves, but noticed something glowing slightly red fly straight towards his friend and hit him on the back of the head.

"Ow!" Tom muttered, "Hey, that hurt" he called back to Luke, whilst rubbing the back of his head with his right hand, but stopped when he saw what had hit him.

"What is it?" questioned Luke as Tom held it up.

"It’s just a marble. C'mon, it's our turn for lunch," and with that, Ryan turned and ran towards the lunch queue. Tom shrugged and threw the marble against the wall and ran off after him. The marble hit the wall will a dull clunk and rebounded off towards Luke. It would have flown perfectly into his hand if he hadn't moved to let it fly right past him. Luke began to follow his friends who were now talking excitedly in the lunch queue, but stopped. He didn't know why but he just felt that he couldn't leave the marble just lying there. He quickly pocketed it.

"Hey, Luke, get your butt over here" called Dan as they were finally let into the lunch hall.

Slowly, consciousness was returning to Cyclone. He tried to move, only to find that his arms and legs had been bound tightly to the chair that he found himself sitting on. Panic began to rise up in his chest as he found he could not see anything. His head was spinning badly and a dull pain was emitting from the back of his skull where he had been struck. He felt sick and it took all his will power to stop himself as bile rose up in his throat.

The panic that had threatened to envelope him returned full force as he heard a chorus of ear splitting screams emitting from all around him. He knew it was happening again, if he couldn’t free himself soon, there would be nothing he could do to stop them. As his struggles continued, the last of the screams died out and an eerie silence met his ears. This silence caused him to panic even more as he tried in vain to free himself. He fell to the floor, creating a loud crash that echoed through the deserted corridors. Though this crash now brought the other person in the room out of his state of unconsciousness, who was now aware he was not alone.

~*~

Luke ran out of lunch with his friends, laughing about something they had seen on TV the night before. There was still half an hour of lunch left and the leaf war looked like a promising way to spend the time. They ran around the side of the building back to where all the leaves had built up. Ryan was the first to grab a pile of leaves, with Tom and Steven following not far behind him, but Luke’s attention was elsewhere. He had seen the second marble, glowing slightly green on the floor just outside the fence, but the person walking down the street hadn’t done so. He stepped on it, stumbled and ended up falling into the street. His friends had seen him fall and began to laugh and cheer, but Luke didn’t join in. The man stood up, his face a burning red; he was angry and threatened to throw the marble at them. A huge pain erupted throughout them all. Luke and his friends fell to the floor, screaming in pain as it began to intensify.

~*~

Brian wandered out of Uni after a long morning. The exam he had taken that morning had been a hard one. It had been made harder since his mom had kept him up half the night screaming at him. He shuddered at what she had said and tried to block it out; she had never truly recovered from his sister and dad dying in the massive attack when he was younger. But one good thing did come out of everything, Sara; the girl he loved, had asked him to move in with her after he had turned up at hers’ at two in the morning. He was so lucky to have her. She wasn't from here and would be going home at the end of her course and he was going with her. He smiled at the thought; he was really leaving this stupid city in a few months time. He couldn't help but feel giddy as he wandered past what was his old high school. They couldn't hurt him now, no one could.

He continued walking along the street, deep in thought and didn't notice the orb that he had just stepped on. He stumbled slightly and managed to fall off the curb into the road. Unlucky for him was the fact that the school was having lunch break and everyone was now cheering as he pulled himself up.
Cursing to himself, he grabbed the orb off the floor and aimed it at the kids who were now laughing at him, but stopped as all of them began to cry out in pain. He lowered his hand slowly, shock was written all over his face. He didn’t expect it to be happening in a high school. He ran up to the fence and started shouting to them, but he knew it was too late.

~*~

‘Cyclone… Cyclone, calm down.’ Whispered the man in a panicked voice as he made his was across the room, away from the door where he had been.

Cyclone, who had been struggling with what remained of the chair, ceased his movements to listen but soon realised that the person was moving towards him. He let out a frightened yelp and continued to fight against the bounds holding him to the chair.

‘Cyclone, you’ve got to listen to me, we don’t have much time.’ The man whispered as he pulled the blindfold from Cyclone’s face.

For a moment, the light from the room blinded Cyclone so that all he could see was a bright light. He closed his eyes and tried to turn away from it as they adjusted. As the room slowly came into focus, he finally saw who had removed the blindfold.

‘You!’ He exclaimed in shock and anger.

‘Cyclone, please…’

‘What? You expect me to listen to you after everything? You… You’re one of them. What the hell did you do to me?’ He shouted but the sound was barely above a whisper.

‘You have to believe me, I never wanted any of this…’

‘Then why are you keeping me here? What the hell is going on?’ Cyclone demanded to know as he finally managed to free the rest of himself from what remained of the chair and stood.

‘They know you have it; the orb. They knew at once that you weren’t one of them.’ Abruptly, Cyclone’s hand went to where he had stashed it before his capture. Though he found that the pocket was void of anything at all.

He looked at the man standing in front of him, who pulled out the orb from the inside of his jacket and held it out to him, but Cyclone backed away, tripping slightly on what remained of the chair.

‘What? What has that thing got to do with anything? It’s just a piece of glass.’

‘Cyclone, you know that’s not true, you’ve played a major part in this since the beginning.’

‘What do you mean? Wait, you mean to say everything that I thought was happening, is really happening?…’

‘Everything you guessed is true. Now you have to listen to me; there isn’t much time. This is for you and the others…’ He began, holding out the orb and a sealed envelope, but Cyclone’s attention was now elsewhere. ‘Cyclone?’

Cyclone beckoned him to be silent as he made his way towards the closed door. He was sure he could hear footsteps approaching outside. As he got to the door, all was quiet, but he still wasn’t convinced that no one was there.

He slowly knelt down so that he could peer through the keyhole. He was right, someone was standing there. Calmly the person raised their arm and blasted the door down, sending Cyclone flying across the room.

~*~

‘Cyclone!’ cried the man as he saw cyclone fly across the room. He heard his head make a sickening crack as it struck the opposite wall. He began to move over to Cyclone, only to have two blasts explode at his feet, stopping him in his tracks. He looked back at the two who had now moved into the room from the doorway.

‘We knew you weren't really one of us, you became too close to these creatures’ the first creature spoke, beckoning towards the unconscious form of Cyclone.

‘I can’t let you do this; you’re going to destroy this world. Everything we already wanted, we have gained… Do we really need any more?’

'What? You really expect us to share this world with these stupid, weak creatures? Get real.’ Snorted the creature as he looked over to where Cyclone lay. ‘Just look at him, he’s pathetic.’

‘No’ spoke the first man who was now watching Cyclone painfully pull himself up into a sitting position against the wall.

‘What did you say?’ asked the other creature, who had moved right up into the man’s face.

‘I said no. These creatures, humans; they don’t deserve any of this.’

‘What, are you kidding me? They deserve everything they get after what happened to Galthor.’

‘Galthor was evil and you know it. He would sacrifice us if it meant he would get what he wanted.’

‘You’re wrong’ sneered the creature who had now backed off.

‘I’m right and you know it, just think about it’ begged the man who knew what was going to happen to himself and Cyclone if he didn’t make them see sense.

‘There’s nothing to think about.’

With this, the two creatures backed off and slowly began to bring their right hands up in front of them.

‘No, please. You… You can’t.’ The man whispered; fear showing in his voice and in the way he backed up against the wall, clutching the letter and orb to his chest. But his pleas didn’t make any effect on the creatures as they stood in front of him, smiling manically as two beams of light erupted from their hands and struck the man squarely in the chest. The letter and the orb flew out of his hand as the force he was blasted with caused his true form to show. He heard Cyclone cry out from somewhere to his left.

"Cyclone, run." He spoke painfully before he knew no more.

~*~

'Noooo!' Screamed Cyclone, as the two creatures blasted the man who had become something of a fatherly figure since his parents had died in the car crash all those years ago. But his cry was cut short as the man’s body seemed to melt and that of a creature’s take its place.

'Cyclone, run.' He spoke before collapsing to the ground and exploding into a blast of fire and light before it rose into the air and dissipated.

Cyclone just sat there as the two remaining creatures turned to face him. He somehow managed to rise to his feet, but as he was doing so, he noticed the orb and the letter lying on the floor. But in the way of them were the two creatures who were now advancing on him; blocking his escape.

~*~

He had no where to run. The room only had one window and at a glance, he noticed he was on the third floor of the building and it was a straight drop down. The only other escape was the door, but he had no chance of getting near it, or did he?

Panic began to rise in his chest again as they began to raise their hands up into attacking position. This was it. He wasn’t going to make it out of this room. The bright lights erupted from their hands again and a huge explosion emitted…..

I think so far its a fairly convincing plot, if not a little obscure at times. However I appreciate that when writing a PR fanfic, the surreal is often the key element to the story.

I think sticking to Labov's theory of the art of story telling, you have fulfilled 4 of the 5 elements, the only one I think you have missed is the coda or propensity to grip in the concluding section.

However it is nicely set out, more coherent than most and generally a good read from my perspective anyways.

Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you liked the story so far, I've been trying to keep it understandable by not making it too complicated.

A special thanks goes to my boyfriend who helped me with the English and other mistakes I had made.
I hope everyone enjoys this chapter.

Destinies Combined PT.3

As the screams erupted everywhere, Shadow and kiba went into hiding on the school roof. Crouching low, they watched as everyone seemed to crumble to the ground beneath them. Pure fear overwhelmed the two as they noticed people on the streets had also crumbled. It wasn't just happening in the school they realised, it was happening all over the city and they where the only ones un-affected.

"Shadow," Kiba called to her as she ran off to the other side of the roof. "Shadow, wait, what are we going to do? Shadow?" He called again, pulling her around to face him.

"Will you just shut up and look at this," she said angrily.

"Look at what?"

"That!" Shadow shouted though her teeth and pointed towards where a person was still standing, shouting through the bars at the people who where still screaming, but one seemed to come out of it and Kiba noticed a red glow coming from his pocket.

'Look he has..."

"I know."

"What about the other guy, I've never seen him before. Do you think he's one of us?" Asked Kiba hopefully.

"I have no idea." Shadow answered, hoping that this wasn't going to begin all over again, just like it did all those years ago.

"We have to get out of this place, lets get them and leave."

"Kiba, we can't, its not safe now, when they wake up they'll come after us, we have to wait."

"But, what about them, we can't just leave them."

"We don't know if they're one of us, helping them would put us in even more danger, all we can do is watch." Shadow spoke sadly, Kiba wanted to argue more, but his own fear held him back, he didn't want to die, not yet.

~*~

Brian stood outside the school, his shouting ceased as he watched a boy who had just risen to his feet whilst his friends continued to roll around on the ground, screaming in immense pain. The boy backed up in fear, tripping over a schoolbag, which had been left at the side whilst its owner enjoyed the freedom of lunchtime.

The boy edged closer to Brian who hadn't dared to move, he knew it was happening all over the city, nowhere was safe. He reached through the bars and placed his hand on the boys shoulder. The boy was terrified and jumped out of his skin, it would have been funny to see if they where in a different situation but not now.

"Get out of there now, before its too late," Brian shouted over the noise into the boys ear, his hand still resting on the other boys shoulder, but it was at that moment a deathly silence settled over the city.

Luke's head turned back to see his friends begin to rise to their feet. He was releaved, but it was short lived, his friends where ok, but there was
something very wrong about them, the way they moved was different. As they rose to their feet they set there eyes on him and he knew then that it wasn't his friends in there anymore. It was something else and he didn't like it.

Luke turned away from his friends and grabbed hold of the cold metal bars which marked the boundary of the school, bars which kept him and his friends captive during the daytime. He pulled himself up, fear began to overwhelm him as he heard the people behind him move.

"Going somewhere?" Asked a voice as he felt another hand on his shoulder, but this one wasn't trying to help him, it pulled him backwards. He tried to hold on, to keep climbing, but more hands joined the first and he found himself falling to the ground.

~*~

A huge explosion emitted as Cyclone dived between the two creatures, it was so loud that he wanted to put his hands over his ears but he didn't have time for that as the explosion destroyed the wall where he had just been standing. Large chunks of rubble began to fall from the ceiling, but Cyclone was already out of the room. In his hurry, he had managed to pick up the orb and the letter, both where safely in his pocket. He ran along the deserted corridor as classroom doors opened behind him and a surge of people ran out after him. He could hear screams coming from deeper inside the building, but he knew he couldn't help them, he could only run.

~*~

Luke had never been so scared in his life, something was going on, he had never seen his friends like this before. Although, there was something else there, a sense of relief, inside he knew he had narrowly escaped with his life. But the sense of relief was short lived as his friends advanced on him.

"What's wrong with you guys?" Luke asked his friends as he climbed to his feet.

They began to snigger, "there's nothing wrong with us, what we want to know is, what is wrong with you?"

The group continued to advance on the boy, more people started to join them.

"What, what do you mean," Luke stammered, glancing nervously around as more people started to join his "friends". This time there was no reply, just
laughter, but this laughter sent chills down his spine.

"Well if your not one of us, then you are no use and that includes your friend, don't think we haven't noticed you." Ryan said to a surprised Brian who began to back away, "there's nowhere left to run." He grinned manically before launching himself at Luke.

Luke had half been expecting the attack, but when it came he was overwhelmed, he didn't want to fight his friends, but if he didn't they would kill him. He had trained in martial arts for a few years, he liked it but he wasn't as dedicated as others in his class. He felt that martial arts was just for fun, didn't have any real meaning on life or would ever help him. He now wished he had paid more attention and had trained more like his instructor had wanted, but it was too late for that now as he began to block attacks.

~*~

Brian hadn't moved from his position behind the bars, he had no intention of entering that school again, especially now. He was all for running but something held him there. He watched as Luke was punched and kicked, he was doing his best to defend, but Brian could tell he didn't want to fight.

'C'mon kid, fight, you have too' Brian thought as Luke was kicked to the ground. The boy turned to him, he tried to call out but a kick to the stomach stopped any words from escaping his mouth. Blood was flowing freely from his nose and his right eye was swollen.

That was it, he couldn't watch this any longer. He took a step back, did a little run, scaled the fence and was in front of Luke within a few seconds.
He held out his hand to the boy on the ground, "are you ok?" he asked, Luke looked at him, fear in his eyes as he shakily took the mans hand.

~*~

Shadow watched as the fight unfolded, she could see more and more people running to the sound of commotion towards the front of the school. Kiba had moved away from the side of the building and was now sitting with his legs up against his chest with his head buried. Shadow shook her head, it was him who had gone to Japan for the orbs, it was he who wanted to fight, so now, when it was time, was he so scared, why was he hiding?

"Kiba, they need us, come on!" She shouted to her friend but he didn't move, "I'm going, Kiba?" she questioned but he still didn't move. What was wrong with him?

Their hiding place hadn't been spotted yet, Shadow used this to her advantage as she climbed down a drain pipe and dropped behind the group who where advancing on Brian and Luke.

She had made no sound when landing and with one swift kick she took out three peoples legs, they collasped to the floor only to get back up again and turn their attention on her.

"Bring it on," Shadow spoke, but immediately regretted her statement as five people attacked at once.

~*~

'I can't do this, I can't do this' thought Kiba as Shadow disappeared off the side of the building. He was scared, he was now alone, but what about Shadow?

This was the first time he had ever left her to fight them alone, he didn't want to fight any longer. The looks on their faces scared him when he hit them hard. He knew it bothered Shadow as well, but she had trained longer than he had. Shotokan Karate was her style and she took it seriously.

Shadow had been awarded a black belt after a few short years of training, but she had deserved it. He looked up to her greatly when it came to that, he had studied Ninjitsu for about a year, he was progressing nicely, but he was scared what he knew wasn't enough to keep him alive.

Cautiously he moved towards the edge of the building and looked down upon his friend. Shadow was surrounded just like the two other people he had seen with the orbs, he could see it was a losing battle already.

He jumped from the roof into the crowd below, a few people cushioned his fall as he reached the ground.

"Shadow!" he called out to her. She turned and smiled with relief.

"It's good to have you back!" Shadow called back as she continued to defend against the people around her.

Cyclone ran down the corridors as fast as he could, dodging past those who wanted to hurt him. He spotted a side door and went to open it, but a glance outside stopped him. The site that greeted him was enough to make him swear. A girl lay on the ground a few meters away, blood pouring from a wound on her side, around her people laughed manically at the sight of the blood. He watched as she clutched at her side whilst she tried to get to her feet. She looked up and saw him staring back at her. He saw the fear and the shock in her eyes, she tried to reach out towards him as a brick was raised over her head.

Cyclone stood shocked as the final blow was struck and her lifeless body fell to the floor. The group then looked towards the door and began to move towards it, Cyclone backed off slowly and continued to run towards the front of the building, he was beginning to panic but he controlled it.
He could see the front doors. People surged from classrooms behind him and joined the chase. He reached the cool green painted wooden doors and ran straight though them, only to run into a large brawl.

He stood for a few seconds, taking in the scene in front of him, four people, three males and a female where fighting against a mob of people. Two he recognised as the two he had seen fight earlier that morning.

Shadow and Kiba where now fighting back to back, protecting each other as more people surged towards them. Brian and Luke where also doing the same thing, but weren't fairing as well as the two friends.

Cyclone jumped down the steps and turned around, ready to meet the surge of people who now exited the building.

The green front doors opened suddenly and through them burst another person, but the four already fighting barely had any chance to register this fact as more people swarmed out of the school and joined the fight against them.

The fighting grew more intense and the five fighting where growing tired as the adrenalin which had been sustaining them began to wear out. Luke was showing this the most, he and Brian had been fighting the longest, there defenses where lowering and more hits where getting them. Brian wasn't about to give up but in the mess of people, he and Luke had been split up.

Above the battle, high up in the sky the clouds began to rotate as the two murderers walked outside to view the chaos. They watched curiously as their warriors fought those who had dared to fight their control.

They chuckled quietly as the smallest was thrown to the ground by their feet. They look at each other before the man on the left lent down and grabbed the boy by his neck. Luke struggled, but he wasn't strong enough to break the mans grip as he was lifted up and choked.

As Luke struggled he could feel something, he couldn't breathe, but whatever it was he felt it could help him, his hands continued to try and pry the hands off his neck.

Luke could feel himself blacking out, large white spots where forming in front of his eyes, but it was so warm. Suddenly he was able to see again as the pressure on his throat was released, he opened his eyes in time to see fire coming from his hands. Luke fell to the ground along with the man who had tried to kill him moments ago, the man growled as he turned to look back at Luke, his clothes where still burning and his face was beginning to melt away but that didn't seem to bother him. He was more interested in killing the boy who could thwart his plans.

Luke didn't even notice the damage he had done or the look the man was giving him, he stared at his hands, wondering what had just happened, the warmth he had felt was gone and there was no sign on his hands that anything was different.

'What had changed?' he thought and remembered the orb in his pocket, he quickly pulled it out. He was shocked as a red beam shot straight into the sky. Luke looked up and saw the huge black vortex, his red beam lingered for a few seconds before been consumed.

Around them the fighting had stopped as the other people with orbs removed them from their pockets and watched as a yellow, blue, green and black beam shot into the sky.

"Get them, before its too late!" the burning man shouted, but none moved, they where all captivated by the lights which had now merged and began to rotate before all five cut off.

"Ha," laughed the second of the two murderers as the vortex began to dissipate, "looks like the powers wont take you pathetic wimps."

The other people surrounding them seemed to come to the same conclusion as they laughed and turned back to their victims. They began to attack with greater fury than before, but they failed to see the beams to light return, destroying the chosen five.

Thanks for the comments Juri, here's chapter four.

Destinies Combined PT.4

Blue, everything was blue, Shadow noted as she opened her eyes, she should have been scared but she wasn't, the blue world felt calm.

"Who's there?" Shadow called as a dark shadow of a figure began to form in front of her. The figure slowly walked closer and the features of a girl a few years older than herself wearing a strange blue uniform came into view.

"Shadow, it is time, you know what you have to do," she spoke, holding out her hand.

"Do I...?" questioned Shadow. She recognised the girl from somewhere, but it wasn't clear where from. A sudden memory hit her, "Sarah, you're Sarah, you were a Ranger."

"Yes, I was, but its your turn now," she held out her hand to Shadow, on it the blue orb shone brightly.

Shadow reached out towards it, but hesitated.

"Don't worry, you will know what to do," Sarah spoke, smiling sadly at her.

Shadow took the orb and felt a power overwhelm her as Sarah faded out. A sudden thought struck Shadow, "Wait, what about..." but it was too late, she was already gone, consumed in the fading blue ocean.

Brian rubbed his eyes, why had everything gone green? Where had everyone gone? He knew he wasn't dead but that was all he knew.

In the shadows something moved ever closer, Brian tried to back away but his legs couldn't move. He could now see the figure of a man a few years younger than himself. In his hand he held an ever brighter green object.

"Brian," the person spoke, "you've been training for this day."

"Steven, how? You, you died," Brian stammered, Steven nodded sadly and held out the orb.

"You know what must be done," he spoke as Brian took it silently, "good luck."

Brian watched as the ghost faded away into the green light that surrounded him. He could feel a new power growing inside of him as the green light also began to fade.

Kiba was in darkness, fear had already overwhelmed him, he wanted to run and hide but there was nowhere, he had been afraid of the dark all of his life. Something glowed close by and a man older than himself stepped out of the darkness.

"Kiba, my name is Dave and we don't have much time," but Kiba didn't move. "Don't let fear take over you, they will win if you do."

"I don't want this, I want to leave," Kiba spoke from the ground where he sat.

"I know its scary, no one wishes to live through dark times, but you haven't been changed, be grateful for that. You now have a job to do, saving the world is hard, but you can do it, I know you can." He held out a hand to the teenager on the floor. Once on his feet the orb was held out before him. He slowly took it and watched as Dave faded away. As the black turned to grey he felt something growing inside of him.

Red, why was everything red? "what’s happening?!" A frightened Luke shouted, he turned around slowly, taking in the sea of red surrounding him. "Am I..?" He muttered.

"No Luke, you are very much alive," spoke an Asian man who appeared out of the red behind him. Luke turned around sharply, ready to fight, but when his eyes met the mans he relaxed.

"I have to fight now, don't I?" Luke asked, fear in his young eyes.

"Yes, but as long as you trust in your power and team mates you will be ok," Luke looked up at the man who was now smiling sadly at him. He slowly moved forwards and took the orb.

The man along with the red began to fade in front of his eyes, he felt something grow inside of him, a power he had never felt before and he liked it.

Cyclone blinked, why had everything gone yellow. He wondered if it had been caused by a blow to the head he had suffered moments before, but this train of thought was lost as a girl appeared out of the yellow.

"Cyclone, it is time," she held out a glowing yellow orb. He took it without thinking.

"Who are you?" he asked as she began to fade.

"Sky," she answered, her voice coming from far away even though she was standing right in front of him.

"Thank you, Sky," he whispered as the world he was in faded, "I am ready."

The beams of light had suddenly rained down on the five they had been attacking, the lights exploded on them, sending their attackers to the floor.

The murderers began to laugh even more as they turned away, there was nothing left of the five humans who had disobeyed them.

"How stupid can these creatures get?" laughed the burnt man, "looks like not even the power of kage wants them."

"It's ironic isn't it," the second man began, "the only power that could have saved them was the thing that finished them off."

But as the smoke cleared, five figures came into view, wearing new clothes and a helmet to match their individual colours. They stayed in a crouched position, their right fist punched into the ground. They stood slowly, Cyclone grabbed one of his attackers and threw him at the two murderers who had turned their backs to him.

The murderers turned around quickly and a look of shock passed over their faces for a split second before anger took over. "What they hell is with you guys," they shouted, "destroy them before they destroy you!"

The five were ready this time as a surge of people began to attack. They where stronger, faster than before, they where taking people out easier than ever, but it began to scare them. They knew the creatures where controlling their attackers and that they where no longer human, but would they be able to turn back, if they kill them, they could never become human again. It wasn't their fault they where possessed.

"Guys, this isn't going to work," Shouted Brian as he blocked a small girl who attacked him with a knife.

"Let's get out of here," shouted Kiba who proceeded to jump over the metal fence.

"Kiba, wait!" Shadow called out, as she tried to stop a group of 12 year olds tackle her to the floor. Shadow was forced down by the sheer number of bodies on her, she was been crushed. She tried to stand, but found herself trapped, no, I have to... she thought. A surge of power suddenly flowed through her and she was able to stand as the children where thrown in all directions off her.

"What just happened?" she whispered in shock before taking control of her emotions. "Guys, don't just stand there, go!" she shouted as the other Rangers had also been distracted by the unusual power which had caused so much panic among their attackers.

Luke and Brian where the first to join Kiba on the other side of the fence but the man in yellow did not follow, he was trying to get to the two on the stairs who where watching him with great amusement.

Shadow didn't know what to do, she could leave him there, but she knew that she would never see him again. She ran forwards, knocking over people as she went. She grabbed Cyclone by his arm and pulled. He turned around suddenly and was ready to strike but stopped short of her head.

"Where leaving, come on, we need to regroup." Shadow said.

"I can't, we have to fight,"

"No, we are far outnumbered, you are going to get yourself killed, you aren't ready to fight them," Shadow shouted as one of the two men growled loudly and began to walk towards them. "Run!"

Cyclone didn't have to be told twice as he turned and ran towards the fence and he and Shadow joined the other Rangers on the other side.

"Where do we go?" asked a scared Luke who even with his face covered managed to look terrified.

"This way," Brian pointed and they all ran as fast as they could away from the school.
