Chapter 1
50 Years Ago....
Eli sat cross-legged in the icy spray of a waterfall, his green gi soaked to his skin, dark blonde hair plastered to his forehead. Calm, focused, let your skin be impervious as elephant hide, he thought, focusing his thoughts, trying to connect to his beast spirit. He had been training in the Order of the Claw for months now, and he was sure that Master Pardus was wrong in the assumption that Eli was going to wield the spirit of the Elephant. Just because my name is Eli Phant, doesn't automatically mean I will have the power of an Elephant, it just means my parents were exceptionally cruel in their choice of names he thought miserably, trying not to shiver as frigid water poured over him.
A flicker of shadow overhead caught his eye, and he brought up his hands in time to catch the foot of his assailant before he could be kicked in the face. A flick of his wrist sent the attacker tumbling into the river at the base of the waterfall. A dark-haired youth broke the surface, sputtering and gasping for air.
"Good block, Eli. Must have been the hearing of the Elephant right, you heard me coming?" said the youth as he treaded water.
"Nope, I SAW you Victor," Eli laughed, "I take it gaining the Bat Spirit hasn't improved your sneak attack". Eli's laughter hid his frustration, Victor Swoop was impetous and impulsive, and SOOOO not focused, yet he already gained his animal spirit.
Suddenly, a hand burst from the water, grabbed Eli's ankle, and pulled him of his rocky perch and into the river. Eli kicked free of his new assailant, and broke the surface of the water, swimming to shore as fast as he could, where he saw Victor already on the riverbank, back turned to the river, squeezing water out of his black gi. Eli tried to yell for help, when he was pulled underwater again. Strong arms wrapped around him, pinning Eli's arms to his side, squeezing the air from his lungs.
Eli panicked, as his chest burned from lack of air, his struggles with his underwater attacker using up all of his oxygen. No, I won't drown, I WILL NOT DROWN!! I CALL TO THE BEAST INSIDE...UNLEASH THE ELEPHANT!!!, Eli shouted in his mind, and emerald light spilled from his body, and the light coalesced into the shape of an African elephant, his beast spirit, which turned and used a flick of it's powerful trunk to knock Eli's attacker out of the water.
As Eli'shead broke the surface again, the elephant spirit vanished. Victor looked on in shock as Eli finally made it shore.
"What was that down there?" Victor asked, "I saw a flash of green then BOOM!"
"That was the elephant spirit" said Eli's underwater enemy, a young man whose short red hair was cut severely short, his cyan gi clinging to a well-muscled frame, limping slightly from the imprompteau landing he was forced to make.
"BRODY!?" Eli yelled. Brody Finn was the best student at the Order of the Claw, and wielder of the shark spirit. So while an underwater assault from a man with the power of a shark wasn't unatural, the fact the it was Brody (agian BEST student ot the Order) was inconcievable.
"Were you trying to kill me?" Eli sputtered, his face reddening with anger.
"No, I just assumed that maybe if faced with life-threatening danger, your instincts might kick in and you would summon your spirit." Brody said, "See your problem is you've been trying to WILL your spirit into existence, to THINK it into reality, insteading of calling to it with your instincts, your primal nature."
"So DROWNING me seemed the best course of action?" Eli asked.
"Well, he is a shark" Victor grinned, "and it obviously worked"
"I needed you ready," Brody said. "Master Cerus says that his beetle spirit has been feeling a darkness aproaching, one that all three of us will have to face. He was contacted by a spirit or force called Zordon who confirmed these feeling. This Zordon told Master Pardus to have his best students tap into the 'Morphing Grid' using something called Morphers" Brody held up his hands, showing some kind of metallic black-and-orange gauntlets, "He said it would channel our Beast Spirits into a new kind of power."
Brody walked behind a tree and came back with a leather pouch, and pulled two more pairs of gauntlets out and tossed them to Eli and Victor, who promptly snapped them on, for as crazy as Brody's story sound, ignoring a karate prodigy with the spirit of a Great White Shark was bordering on suicidal.
Eli felt a rush of energy when he put on his gauntlets. And suddenly words came into his mind, Rangers, Zords, Jungle Fury. Victor seemed to have the same reaction.
Twin beams of light struck the ground with explosive force and sent the young men flying backwards. A gold dragon-like man hovered in front of them. "Hmmm. I missed, I suppose I'll have to work on my aim if I intend to rid the world of you humans."
"Who are you?!" Eli asked.
"Like you will live long enough to remember it anyway" The dragon man sneered as he prepared to fire another blast.
"Lets use the Morphers" Victor yelled.
"Jungle Beast! Spirit Unleash!!" yelled Brody, as he slammed his gauntlets together, Victor and Eli followed suit. Cyan blue light swirled around Brody, forming a shark, while indigo light formed a bat around Victor, and green light once again formed an elephant around Eli. Bodysuits of metallic spandex appeared on the men's body, while black-visored helmets appeared on their heads. Brody was clad in a uniform of cyan-and-black, Eli in green-and-black, and Victor in black-and-silver.
"With the Instincts of Shark! Jungle Fury Cyan Ranger!" Brody, now Cyan Ranger yelled. He thrust out his hands and called "Jungle Sabers" and twin shark-like blades appeared in the air for him to grab.
"With the Stamina of an Elephant! Jungle Fury Green Ranger!" Eli, now Green Ranger yelled. He called out "Jungle Mace" and an elephant-shaped ball and chain appeared in his hands.
"With the Senses of a Bat! Jungle Fury Black Ranger!" Victor, now Black Ranger yelled. "Jungle Wings!" he shouted, and bat-like fan weapons appeared in his hands.
"Power Rangers! JUNGLE FURY!!!" All three shouted in unison.

The dragon man fired a blast of searing energy from his eyes, only to have Black Ranger block it with his Jungle Wings. Green Ranger swung his Jungle Mace and struck their reptilian foe in the back of his scaly head with an audible thud, while Cyan Ranger darted forward and slashed the stunned dragon man across his torso with his Jungle Sabers.
Enraged the dragon man thrust his hands outward and a massive wave of golden energy erupted from his outstretched palms, sweeping the Power Rangers away from him. "Now you face the full fury of LEVIATHAN!!!" he yelled. Gold energy swirled around him, forming the shape of a golden sea serpent.
"Unleash the Elphant!!" Green Ranger yelled, as green energy formed an elephant that charged Leviathan.
"Unleash the Bat!!" Black Ranger yelled, as indigo light formed a large bat that swooped down towards their enemy.
"Unleash the Shark!!" Cyan Ranger yelled, as aquamarine energy formed a masive shark that surged at their opponent with open jaws.
The three spirits crahed into Leviathan's energy serpent, destroying it in a flash of explosive power. Leviathan screamed and began to glow brightly, suddenly doubling in size, then tripling, until he stood a staggering 60 feet tall.
"Animal Spirits Arise" the three Rangers yelled. Their energy spirits grew into massive robotic beasts, a huge Green ElephantZord, a Black BatZord, and a Cyan SharkZord. The Rangers leapt inside their respective Zords.

"So this is a Zord" Green Ranger mused, as he took control of the ElephantZord. Leviathan screamed in fury, "How many powers do you have?!"
"Lets find out!" said Black Ranger, "BatZord FIRE!!" The Black BatZord, soared forwards, fire two missiles from it open mouth that struck Leviathan with such force that they cracked his golden scales on his chest.
"My Shark smells blood!" Cyan said eagerly, "SharkZord ATTACK!!" The Cyan SharkZord surged foward, clamping it jaws on the monsters injured chest.
Leviathan screamed and fired an energy wave, knocking the Zords back. Suddenly he staggered, all his energy used up.
"All that rage, and I'm still standing," Green Ranger sneered, "ElephantZord CHARGE!!" The Green ElephantZord raised its trunk to the air and a massive green ball appeared, it then swung the orb at leviathan and it hit him with the force of a bomb. Sparking, cluthcing his torn chest, Leviathan fell forwards, then exploded.
The Zords turned back into energy and vanished, as the Rangers leapt to the ground. "Power Down" they yelled. Eli, Victor, and Brody gave each other slaps on the back. 'We did it, we stopped the enemy"
"You congratulate too soon" said a voice. The teenagers turned to see a tall, powerful man, with long black haired tied in a ponytail, dark pruple robes billowing around a tanned muscular form.
"Master Cerus!" The three boys bowed immediatley.
"What you defeated, was just an emissary, a scoutfor the dark power." Ceros said, staring at his students. "And we will need greater power to defeat the coming army. We have much training to do."
