View Full Version : Applying Zord Reprolabel Tips?

Should I use tweezers? Take a shower first? Not drink too much coffee and be jittery.
What are the best ways to assure a great re-decaling? I know to strip the old with goo-gone and clean it but what about applying the new ones? Any model makers have advice?
the repro stickers give you more than a few attempts to put it on straight, just put it on, but dont press down on it, check to see if its straight, then push down to adhere it, as long as you dont put pressure on it, you can still easily lift it back up and reposition it. Tweezers are only really necessary if you have to lift up a corner to remove it and reposition it. Just gently lay it down and look at it to see if its in the right place.
I'd shower if it's been a few days, and definitely lay off the coffee, BUT take the morpher stickers for example. For one of the rings, I sort of pinch the two tips, but not to the point where it sticks to the other side, just a little bit to sort of pop the rest of the sticker up. That leaves a tiny gap between the suface and the sticker, so if you don't get it right the first time, you can easily position it correctly. You pretty much do the same with the other stickers, but like Enuo said, you have a few tries to get it right even without the pinching technique.

I'm just trying to envision pinching the tips of the stickers?
Typically I just use a left to right pressing down and if I see it's not right, I pull it off before I run out of excess.

If the repro label sticker glue is anything like the homebrew sticker glue I make, I would definitely use tweezers. One time I found a working Q-Rex Megazord for $1 at a thrift store, but all its stickers had been peeled off, so I bought another broken Q-Rex off ebay that had good stickers on it, and I peeled the good stickers off and applied them to my good Q-Rex using homemade sticker glue. Luckily I got them on pretty well, because that stuff is like cement.

Tweezers are the worst thing ever for stickers.
9/10 times, you will get a creased mark or screw up if you accidentally dont have X amount of pressure.
Just dont press down, aim and drop it in place, then you should be able to shuffle it to a good spot, then press evenly.
This comes from a dude who opens vintage toys and stickers em up! So...... trust me.

The ends of the stickers. You sort of fold them together, but not to the point where they stick to each other. That gives a little lift to the rest of the sticker. That way if you mess up, you can peel it off without losing too much of the "sticky".
