Episode 1
Finding a Hero
Settings: Root Corps, Angel Grove, and Wind Ninja Academy
Time: During Zordon’s leave from the Turbo rangers, 1996 – 8, 2008
Characters: Udonna, Zordon, younger Clare, Phineas, Tribunal of Magic, Alpha 5, Val, Dimensior, General Kazor, Matt, Sacred Guardians, Didrones, Piranhitrons, General Chaos, General Creedance, General Mortrad, Sensei, younger Cam, Gerix (Kazor’s servant), and Solcar ( Kazor’s head soldier).
Plot: A prophecy is delivered to Udonna. It states that an evil will be coming in the future that can only be stopped by the protectors of the sacred elements. Udonna tells Zordon of the prophecy and he knows what will happen. He must find the warrior who can unite the five elements and stop the unknown terror. This terror will later be revealed as a conqueror known as Dimensior. He is a being who takes over each dimension until he has total power. Fortunately he cannot reach Earth’s dimension because of a protection spell put on this galaxy by ancient mystics. Dimensior sends one of his generals to destroy the source of this incantation that is preventing his phase through to our universe. The source s Earth!
Scene 1
Place: Root Corps
Udonna’s making a stew for her and a young Clare when she notices a glow. It is coming from the Xenotome that is now shaking. Udonna walks over to the book of spells and opens it. Some writing is scribbled down onto the page. It is not a spell, but a prophecy. It reads, “ In the future a darkness not of this universe will come. It will destroy all in its path. But the light can stop it. The five elements must be united in order to fight evil. The fire will unite two past warriors and two new warriors. If they win the battle then they must gather a great army to vanquish the invading darkness.”
Udonna exclaimed, “ The prophecy has been revealed! This is not good.” “What’s not good Udonna?” said Clare. “My dear, it is nothing you have to concern yourself with.”
Udonna knew right away what the prophecy foreshadowed. There was only one person she could turn to: Zordon. She had to leave at once to go to Angel Grove to tell him of what transpired. She went and got Phineas, for she couldn’t leave Clare alone. As she was packing Clare said, “Where are you going Udonna? Can I come?” Udonna replied, “No my child, you may not. I just have to do something very important. I shall be back in a few days. Phineas will take very good care of you.”
Phineas, “We are going to have so much fun Clare. We’ll play checkers, and tag, and all that stuff! Udonna smiled. “I know you’ll be fine. I must go now”, she said. Clare with a tear in her eye said, “ Ok,” sniffle, “just bring me back a souvenir.” Udonna laughed, “I will, bye my child. Bye Phineas.” They waved back. At the instance she waved her wand, said a spell, and vanished.
Scene 2
Place: The Command Center, Angel Grove
In the Command Center it was business as usual. Alpha was checking scanners of the city when all of a sudden Udonna pops up behind him. Alpha 5 exclaimed, “Udonna! You scared me. I haven’t seen you in ages. Why are you here?”
Udonna, “It’s urgent. I need to see Zordon.” At that moment Zordon materialized in his tube. He said, “Udonna, what do need my old friend?”
Udonna, “The prophecy, it has arrived. It foretold of darkness too come, like we feared. What should we do? Do you think that the rangers you have been training for the past few years can handle it?”
Zordon, “ No, they are strong rangers, but must stay here to protect the Earth from Divatox. We do not know when this darkness will come. Also the rangers I have mentored will soon pass their powers down to other rangers. We must find another worthy warrior who will train to become the Sacred Guardian of Fire and who will unite the other warriors when the time comes.”
Udonna, “ I agree. But who shall be courageous and strong enough to be the chosen one?” Zordon, “ I do not know. We must go to the Tribunal of Magic to see if they may grant me a wish to temporarily turn me back to my original form. In doing this I can search for the candidate who will be the Guardian of Fire. Alpha, this journey may take awhile, and we need someone to watch over the rangers.”
Alpha, “ But we must not alarm them about the prophecy. Aiy-yai-yai!”
Udonna, “ How about Dimitria. She is a wise being and would be glad to do it.”
Zordon, “Great idea Udonna. Alpha contact Dimetria and give her our proposal. Also, contact King Lexion to see if he can send Alpha 6 over to take your place. I need your assistance on this journey.”
Alpha, “Right away Zordon, but what will we tell the rangers?”
Zordon, “ We’ll tell them that we are homesick and are going back to Eltar. They must be convinced that we are returning home so we will set up a transporting effect. It will give the illusion of us going home to Eltar but our true destination will be the Dimension of the Tribunal of Magic,”
Alpha, “ Excellent plan Zordon. I will contact Dimetria now”.
Zordon, “ Udonna, thank you for informing us about the prophecy. We will meet you in the dimension of the Tribunal of Magic as soon as possible.”
Udonna, “ alright Zordon. And may the power protect you.”
Scene 3
Place: Dimension of the Tribunal of Magic
Zordon and Alpha were able to get away with their white lie and were in the dimension of the Tribunal of Magic. Udonna was also there. On a great white altar stood the three members. The red one said, “ Zordon, what a pleasure it is to see you. And you too Udonna.” The white one said, “ It has been a long time since we last saw you.” The black one snapped, “ Let us make this hasty, my time has been wasted enough already.” The white one said, “ Don’t mind him, he is just grumpy today. What brings you to our dimension.” Udonna says, “ the other day I received the prophecy. The one that foretells of an evil that is to come and the only ones who can stop it are the Sacred Guardians.” The red one said, “ Ah, the Sacred Guardians, they have been hidden from this world for centuries. Their powers must go to worthy candidates. Have you found them?” Zordon says, “ That is why we have come today. I was hoping that you could grant me a wish to give me back my old body temporarily so I could search for a worthy warrior.” The black one says, “ No. We shall not grant you this wish.” The white one snaps, “ Yes we shall. You are an old friend of the Tribunal.” The Black one says, “ Fine we shall. But you shall only have the body until you find the candidate. After that you shall lose it and be sent back to Eltar.” Zordon says, “ Thank you.” The red one raises his hand and casts the spell. Zordon transforms into a human with black hair and green eyes. He wears clothes similar to that of Udonna, but for a man. Udonna says, “ Thank you Tribunal.” The red one says, “ No worries old friends and may the power protect you.” Zordon says, “ And may it protect you as well.” Udonna waves her wand and the two leave the dimension.
Scene 4
Place: Angel Grove Park, behind a tree so no one can see them appear
Zordon says, “ Thank you Udonna, you have been very helpful, but Alpha and I must finish this journey on our own.” Udonna says, “ I understand. I must get back to Claire any ways. May the power protect you.” Zordon nods. Udonna casts a spell and disappears in thin air. Zordon says to his communicator, “ Alpha do you read me?” Alpha says, “ Yes Zordon.” Zordon replies, “ Good. I need you to remain on Eltar preparing my tube for when my body turns back to normal. Also, send me the sword of the great samurai and Sacred Guardian Ichigo.” Alpha says, “ right away.” A moment later the sword materializes in Zordon’s hands. He fastens it to his side and walks down the path through the park. People look at him funny because of the sword and clothes, but he doesn’t pay attention. Before he gets to the end of the path he senses something. “Oh no, Piranhitrons.” Zordon says under his breath. A group of them appear out of the woods and start terrorizing the citizens of Angel Grove. Before Zordon could intervene, the get a hold of a teenager named Matt. Matt however fights them off. Jumping in the air, kicking, punching, he destroys them one by one. Zordon, observing this, hides behind a tree. To himself he says, “ Can it be, a worthy candidate found so soon?” Matt sweeps the last one standing and punches it. They all turn to water and evaporate. Matt picks up his bag to start walking again but Zordon pops out and surprises Matt.
Matt says, “ Can I help you?”
Zordon says, “Actually you can. I saw you fighting those Piranhitrons a minute ago. You have great skills.”
Matt says, “ Thanks. I’m a black belt in Tang Soo Do. But who the hell are you?”
Zordon replies, “ I am Zordon, mentor to the power rangers. I have been searching for a new warrior to take up the burden of fighting a new enemy. I believe you are that warrior.”
Matt says, “ Huh? Yeah right, you mentor to the power rangers? Please, give me a break.”
Zordon says, “ Ah, a none believer. Well explain this.” He draws the sword out of its sheath. The sword blazes with a hot flame.
Matt says, “ Wow, a flaming sword. Zordin or whatever, it’s been cool, but I gotta go.”
Zordon says, “ Wait. Watch.” He slashes the air with the sword and opens a rift. Through it Matt is able to see the Turbo rangers fighting a monster and Piranhitrons. Matt stands there stunned. Zordon says, “ I told you I wasn’t lying.” In the rift the rangers defeat the monster and power down.
Matt says, “ Hey I know them. They just graduated from my school, other than Justin- he’s a friend of my kid brother.”
Zordon replies back with a chuckle, “ Yes, Tommy, Kat, Tanya, Adam, and Justin are rangers. However, we must get to some important business.” The portal closes and Zordon continues, “ Destiny has brought me to you Matt. Fate has chosen you to become a warrior against evil. Prophecies have been given foretelling the shadows to come, you are the only hope.” He hands Matt the sword.
Matt says, “ But I’m just a teen. What is this evil anyways?”
Zordon says, “ First we must start from the beginning. 600 years ago a group of warriors known as the Sacred Guardians were given powers of the five elements- Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, and Light. They were to use them to fight against a great shadow that invaded the Earth. Your ancestor, the great samurai Ichigo, was chosen as the Guardian of Fire. He led them to victory over the invaders. After the Great Battle they gave up their powers, sealing them in a pillar specific to their element. If you choose to become a power ranger and take on the unknown evil to come, you must use your ancestor’s sword to free the crystal from the pillar of fire. Only then can you achieve full power.”
Matt nods and replies. “ I accept, but where is this pillar?”
Zordon says, “ It is the volcano called Mt. Ashe. You must go to the chamber inside and take the crystal, fighting off anything that gets in your way.”
Matt says, “ Ok. Lets go then.”
Scene 5
Place: Mt. Ashe outside at the base of the mountain
Zordon and Matt appear out of a portal cut through by Zordon using the sword. He re-sheathes it and hands it back to Matt. Matt exclaims, “ How’d you do that?” Zordon replies, “ You will learn the secrets of the sword soon enough, but first you must retrieve the crystal that is in the inner chamber.” Matt says, “ Will you come with me?” Zordon says, “ No, you must do this alone with only your sword. I know you will succeed. Once you finish your mission I will inform you about your future.”
Matt nods and starts his climb with only the sword on his back and nothing else. After a few minutes he reaches the cave that leads to the inner chamber. He walks in and his taken back by the immense heat emitted by the lava. Matt says to himself, “ Zordon didn’t tell me it was active.” He keeps walking until he sees a narrow path down to a central area that is over a pit of lava. Matt walks down it but half way down, a dragon pops out of the lava. He says, “ Who dares enter the chamber of Ichigo, the red Sacred Guardian of Fire.” Matt yells, “ I do. Let me pass so I may retrieve the crystal and take the power of my birth rite.” The dragon says, “ Ah, Zordon has found a candidate to take over the power. I have guarded this temple for thousands of years. I shall allow you passage to the other side, only if you defeat me in battle.” Matt says, “ Let’s get it on.”
With that, the dragon flies up and whips Matt with his tail. Matt flies back and hits a rock wall. He gets up and takes out his sword. The dragon spews a huge flame at Matt. He is engulfed in fire, but cuts through it with his sword. Matt jumps through and slashes at the beast. The dragon flies back and goes for another attack. Matt, tired but still fighting, jumps to his left, and goes into the air striking down onto the dragon’s head. The dragon goes to the sky once again and says, “ You are worthy to pass Matt of the line of Ichigo. Take the power of fire and expel the evil from the universe.” The dragon swoops down back into the lava and Matt is free to pass.
He walks to the central area and removes the fiery red crystal from its stand. Matt walks down the path again, but the volcano starts to erupt. He runs down the bridge, which is melting with every step. He jumps onto the cavern area and runs for his life until he reaches the outside. He slides down on his feet down the mountain and jumps, still 100 feet in the air, when all of a sudden the dragon emerges and catches Matt on his back. He lands down next to Zordon and thanks the dragon that replies, “ It is no problem Matt. Because of your bravery, I shall become your companion and zord. I was once the companion of Ichigo, but when he stored his power in the depths of the volcano, he left me to guard them. Now, 600 years later I am free. It will be an honor to serve you.” Matt says, “ Great, but what do I do now? I have school and my parents, what will they say?” Zordon says, “ You won’t miss either of them. But you must learn to control your powers, and use them. We don’t know what or when the evil will arrive. Now we must go to Root Corps and have you learn to control fire. A great sorceress by the name of Udonna shall teach you.”
In the sky, the Black Tribunal of Magic member appears. He says, “ Your time is up Zordon.” Zordon says, “ I know. Matt, you must train everyday and prepare for the evil to come. After school everyday you must use your dragon to go and train with Udonna. Once you have mastered that she will send you to your next task. I must go now Matt, but may the power protect.” Matt says, “ Will I ever see you again?” Zordon who is walking down the beach, turns and says, “ Maybe, but remember what I have told you. I am ready.” The Black Tribunal of Magic member waves his hands and he and Zordon disappear.
Matt says, “ Well that was odd. What do we do now?” The dragon replies, “we go to Root Corps.” Matt agrees and gets on the dragons back. They fly off to Root Corps.
Scene 6
Place: Root Corps
The dragon lands in the forest and Matt gets off his back. The dragon says, “ I will fly off now, but if you need me, you can reach me telepathically.” Matt says, “ Alright, but where do I go?” The dragon says, “ Keep going straight until you see a giant tree with a dragon mouth. Knock on it and introduce yourself to the witch there.” Matt nods and the dragon flies off.
After walking for a few minutes he finds Root Corps and does what the dragon says. After his second knock the mouth of the stone dragon opens and a woman with red hair dressed in white comes out. She says, “ Ah, I presume that you are the chosen warrior by the great Zordon.” Matt says, “ Yes. I have been chosen by Zordon to be the Red Sacred Guardian of Fire. He told me to come here and said that you would teach me how to master the art of fire.” The witch says, “ Yes, I am that person. My name is Udonna and I am the white witch. Come inside won’t you.” Matt follows Udonna into the Root Corps as the mouth closes behind them.
Scene moves to the two walking into the center of Root Corps where a younger Claire is trying out a spell. She accidentally turns her doll into a vat of goo. She gets frustrated and yells. Udonna says, “ Calm down my child, you will get the hang of it soon enough, “ and turns the goo back into a doll, “ This is our new friend Matt.” Claire smiles and blushes because she didn’t notice Matt enter with Udonna. Matt says, “ Hi Claire, I see your learning magic, too.” She nods and is still blushing. Matt says, “ So Udonna, when do we start?” Udonna says, “ We start now. Claire, can you go outside and play for a little while, Matt and I must do some work.” Claire says, “ Ok. Bye Matt.” She leaves.
Udonna says, “ The first thing any sorcerer must learn is to concentrate. He must focus his energy into one thing. His mind must be completely empty except for the task at hand. I cannot teach you concentration, you must learn that yourself. Once you have mastered that, you can learn how to control anything you want. Our first lesson is meditation. You must focus on this single flame,” She flicks her wand at a candle and the wick is set ablaze, “ and make it into a raging fire.” Matt says, “ Sounds easy enough,” and sits on a mat in front of the candle. For two hours Matt sat there concentrating when suddenly he gets it to become a huge fire. He can’t control it, so an almost asleep Udonna jumps up, says a spell, and extinguishes the fire. She says, “ That was good, with a little practice you shall be able to make flame portals- that only work on Earth of course-, a flame from your hand, and even turning your sword on fire. It is late now, we will meet tomorrow for more practice.” Matt says, “ Thanks Udonna. I thought it would be easy, but I guess I was wrong. I’ll be back 3 o’clock sharp. He waves her good-bye, walks out and calls on the dragon to take him home.
After a multitude of sessions over 3 years, Matt mastered the art of fire. One day Udonna says to him, “ My work with you is done. I have taught you everything I know. You must go to the Wind Ninja Academy to learn to strengthen your technological and physical skills.” Matt says, “ Ugh, more training. Thanks for all your help Udonna.” She says, “ It was my pleasure. But remember, the evil may come at anytime. You are the Earth’s only hope.” Matt says, “ I know. I don’t plan to disappoint,” He opens a fire portal, “ Bye. Hope to come across your path again Udonna.” She says, “ I’m sure we will.” Matt leaves.
Scene 7
Place: Wind Ninja Academy, In front of the dojo. The time is the year 2000.
A fire portal opens and Matt walks out. He says, “ So this is the Wind Ninja Academy. Huh, not that impressive.” He walks up to the door, but 20 ninja students stop him. Matt engages them in battle. One red ninja kicks him, but Matt blocks while simultaneously kicking a blue ninja behind him. He then jumps on top of box and throws one ninja at the crowd. They all take out their bokkens, so Matt takes out his sword. All of a sudden the Sensei along with his son come out. He yells, “ Stop!” The ninjas stop and bow. Matt says, “ So you are the Sensei?” He says, “ Yes I am the Sensei of the Wind Ninja Academy. You must be Matt. Udonna told me you were coming.” Matt gets down from the box and puts away his sword. He says, “ Yes I am, and I’m ready to train.” Sensei smiles and introduces him to his son Cam. They walk into the school.
Over the course of 3 years Matt juggled college, social life, and training. At the academy, the Sensei trained him in the art of stealth, sword, and meditation. Every morning he would meditate for 2 hours. For another hour he would practice fighting and swordsmanship with the other ninjas. Cam taught him computer and zord programming. But one day in 2003, it all changed.
Lothor came to earth and stole the Wind Ninja Academy students. He also turned the Sensei into a hamster. Matt said to Cam, “ I’ll stay and fight.” Cam says, “ No, my dad said that if this time ever came, 3 others would fight. You must leave. He told me to send you to a guy named Val outside your hometown Angel Grove.” Cam hands Matt 3 scrolls and says “ Take these and leave. If you get caught or killed, all hope for Earth shall be lost.” Matt nods and opens a fire portal to go to Val’s home.
Scene 8
Place: Outside Angel Grove, Val, a semi-old man’s house, 2003
Matt jumps out of his portal and walks up to the dilapidated house. “ Wow, this looks like shit.” He steps on the doorstep, when all of a sudden the ground below him caves in and he is sliding down a tube. Matt lands on a hard floor in a room filled with computer screens, ancient scrolls, and weapons. Matt says, “ I was not expecting that. Hey, what’s this over here?” “Don’t touch that!!!” screams a man who walks through an automatic door, “That’s a SG- Blaster. Who are you anyways?” “My name is Matt. I was sent here by the sensei at the Wind Ninja Academy. He was attacked by some alien named Lothor,” says Matt. “So you must be the chosen one. My name is Val. Do not worry about him, he’ll be alright.” Matt says, “ How do you know?” Val says, “ I know because I am an oracle. Many years ago I foretold of this event. 3 warriors not unlike yourself shall come and get rid of Lothor. But you, I have been waiting for you. Many years ago I also foretold of a warrior who must get rid of another evil, one even greater than Lothor.” Matt pulls out the scrolls from his bag and says, “ So you can tell me what these mean then.” Val replies, “ Well, not exactly. I may give prophecies, but the meanings are not always clear. They will come true, but their interpretations are up to the reader. These scrolls though are the most specific ones I have made. The first one says that you, the leader, must get two past warriors and two new warriors to team up. The second and third are not as clear, but a wise person may be able to figure them out. The second says that a dark warrior shall fight for evil but then justice. And finally, the third states that the messenger shall bring the pure essence to the golden beast so that they may fuse and finally get rid of chaos.” Matt says, “ Whoa, so I have to find a team, a dark warrior, and a golden beast.” Val says, “ Yes and no. All these shall come true in time. But for now you must learn how to become a power ranger.”
Val hands Matt a morpher that is like a cell phone, but with a robot and a vehicle symbol on the inside keypads and with a fire red color on the outside. Val says, “ Take this, it’s your morpher. Put your crystal in the holding station over there. When synced up, you can release your power and morph into a ranger by pressing the green button and saying, ‘Guardian Ranger Power!’.” Matt walks over to the station and places his crystal on it. On each side of the station are two more platforms for the future rangers to follow. Val says, “ Well try it out.” Matt says the phrase and presses the button and morphs into the Red Sacred Guardian of Fire. His suit has red coming down his chest in a “V” shape with white underneath. On his arms are red with a white stripe coming down. His gloves are white with an orange triangle with red dots in a star form. At the end of the glove on the forearm is a fiery symbol. His pants are red with white stripes going down and his boots are red with a fiery band on the shin. His belt has silver band with a buckle, which is gold with five red dots arranged in a star. On his left side is an empty holster and on the right is his sword.
Val hands him an SG- Blaster and says, “ Now you’re a ranger.” Matt takes off his helmet that is red with fire streaks on the side and says, “ Yeah, but now what?” Val says, “ We wait. We wait for the enemy, the allies, and the battle. You go home, get some sleep, you’ve trained hard these past few years.” Matt shakes his and says, “Alright, but how did you make all this and know so much?” Val says. “ I’ve been around for a few centuries, you pick things up with age.” They laugh and scene ends.

We must go to the Tribunal of Magic to see if they may grant me a wish to temporarily turn me back to my original form. In doing this I can search for the candidate who will be the Guardian of Fire. Alpha, this journey may take awhile, and we need someone to watch over the rangers.”
Alpha, “ But we must not alarm them about the prophecy. Aiy-yai-yai!”
Udonna, “ How about Dimitria. She is a wise being and would be glad to do it.”
Zordon, “Great idea Udonna. Alpha contact Dimetria and give her our proposal. Also, contact King Lexion to see if he can send Alpha 6 over to take your place. I need your assistance on this journey.”
Alpha, “Right away Zordon, but what will we tell the rangers?”
Zordon, “ We’ll tell them that we are homesick and are going back to Eltar. They must be convinced that we are returning home so we will set up a transporting effect. It will give the illusion of us going home to Eltar but our true destination will be the Dimension of the Tribunal of Magic,”
Alpha, “ Excellent plan Zordon. I will contact Dimetria now”.
Zordon, “ Udonna, thank you for informing us about the prophecy. We will meet you in the dimension of the Tribunal of Magic as soon as possible.”
Udonna, “ alright Zordon. And may the power protect you.”
Scene 3
Place: Dimension of the Tribunal of Magic
Zordon and Alpha were able to get away with their white lie and were in the dimension of the Tribunal of Magic. Udonna was also there. On a great white altar stood the three members. The red one said, “ Zordon, what a pleasure it is to see you. And you too Udonna.” The white one said, “ It has been a long time since we last saw you.” The black one snapped, “ Let us make this hasty, my time has been wasted enough already.” The white one said, “ Don’t mind him, he is just grumpy today. What brings you to our dimension.” Udonna says, “ the other day I received the prophecy. The one that foretells of an evil that is to come and the only ones who can stop it are the Sacred Guardians.” The red one said, “ Ah, the Sacred Guardians, they have been hidden from this world for centuries. Their powers must go to worthy candidates. Have you found them?” Zordon says, “ That is why we have come today. I was hoping that you could grant me a wish to give me back my old body temporarily so I could search for a worthy warrior.” The black one says, “ No. We shall not grant you this wish.” The white one snaps, “ Yes we shall. You are an old friend of the Tribunal.” The Black one says, “ Fine we shall. But you shall only have the body until you find the candidate. After that you shall lose it and be sent back to Eltar.” Zordon says, “ Thank you.” The red one raises his hand and casts the spell. Zordon transforms into a human with black hair and green eyes. He wears clothes similar to that of Udonna, but for a man. Udonna says, “ Thank you Tribunal.” The red one says, “ No worries old friends and may the power protect you.” Zordon says, “ And may it protect you as well.” Udonna waves her wand and the two leave the dimension.
Scene 4
Place: Angel Grove Park, behind a tree so no one can see them appear
Zordon says, “ Thank you Udonna, you have been very helpful, but Alpha and I must finish this journey on our own.” Udonna says, “ I understand. I must get back to Claire any ways. May the power protect you.” Zordon nods. Udonna casts a spell and disappears in thin air. Zordon says to his communicator, “ Alpha do you read me?” Alpha says, “ Yes Zordon.” Zordon replies, “ Good. I need you to remain on Eltar preparing my tube for when my body turns back to normal. Also, send me the sword of the great samurai and Sacred Guardian Ichigo.” Alpha says, “ right away.” A moment later the sword materializes in Zordon’s hands. He fastens it to his side and walks down the path through the park. People look at him funny because of the sword and clothes, but he doesn’t pay attention. Before he gets to the end of the path he senses something. “Oh no, Piranhitrons.” Zordon says under his breath. A group of them appear out of the woods and start terrorizing the citizens of Angel Grove. Before Zordon could intervene, the get a hold of a teenager named Matt. Matt however fights them off. Jumping in the air, kicking, punching, he destroys them one by one. Zordon, observing this, hides behind a tree. To himself he says, “ Can it be, a worthy candidate found so soon?” Matt sweeps the last one standing and punches it. They all turn to water and evaporate. Matt picks up his bag to start walking again but Zordon pops out and surprises Matt.
Matt says, “ Can I help you?”
Zordon says, “Actually you can. I saw you fighting those Piranhitrons a minute ago. You have great skills.”
Matt says, “ Thanks. I’m a black belt in Tang Soo Do. But who the hell are you?”
Zordon replies, “ I am Zordon, mentor to the power rangers. I have been searching for a new warrior to take up the burden of fighting a new enemy. I believe you are that warrior.”
Matt says, “ Huh? Yeah right, you mentor to the power rangers? Please, give me a break.”
Zordon says, “ Ah, a none believer. Well explain this.” He draws the sword out of its sheath. The sword blazes with a hot flame.
Matt says, “ Wow, a flaming sword. Zordin or whatever, it’s been cool, but I gotta go.”
Zordon says, “ Wait. Watch.” He slashes the air with the sword and opens a rift. Through it Matt is able to see the Turbo rangers fighting a monster and Piranhitrons. Matt stands there stunned. Zordon says, “ I told you I wasn’t lying.” In the rift the rangers defeat the monster and power down.
Matt says, “ Hey I know them. They just graduated from my school, other than Justin- he’s a friend of my kid brother.”
Zordon replies back with a chuckle, “ Yes, Tommy, Kat, Tanya, Adam, and Justin are rangers. However, we must get to some important business.” The portal closes and Zordon continues, “ Destiny has brought me to you Matt. Fate has chosen you to become a warrior against evil. Prophecies have been given foretelling the shadows to come, you are the only hope.” He hands Matt the sword.
Matt says, “ But I’m just a teen. What is this evil anyways?”
Zordon says, “ First we must start from the beginning. 600 years ago a group of warriors known as the Sacred Guardians were given powers of the five elements- Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, and Light. They were to use them to fight against a great shadow that invaded the Earth. Your ancestor, the great samurai Ichigo, was chosen as the Guardian of Fire. He led them to victory over the invaders. After the Great Battle they gave up their powers, sealing them in a pillar specific to their element. If you choose to become a power ranger and take on the unknown evil to come, you must use your ancestor’s sword to free the crystal from the pillar of fire. Only then can you achieve full power.”
Matt nods and replies. “ I accept, but where is this pillar?”
Zordon says, “ It is the volcano called Mt. Ashe. You must go to the chamber inside and take the crystal, fighting off anything that gets in your way.”
Matt says, “ Ok. Lets go then.”
Scene 5
Place: Mt. Ashe outside at the base of the mountain
Zordon and Matt appear out of a portal cut through by Zordon using the sword. He re-sheathes it and hands it back to Matt. Matt exclaims, “ How’d you do that?” Zordon replies, “ You will learn the secrets of the sword soon enough, but first you must retrieve the crystal that is in the inner chamber.” Matt says, “ Will you come with me?” Zordon says, “ No, you must do this alone with only your sword. I know you will succeed. Once you finish your mission I will inform you about your future.”
Matt nods and starts his climb with only the sword on his back and nothing else. After a few minutes he reaches the cave that leads to the inner chamber. He walks in and his taken back by the immense heat emitted by the lava. Matt says to himself, “ Zordon didn’t tell me it was active.” He keeps walking until he sees a narrow path down to a central area that is over a pit of lava. Matt walks down it but half way down, a dragon pops out of the lava. He says, “ Who dares enter the chamber of Ichigo, the red Sacred Guardian of Fire.” Matt yells, “ I do. Let me pass so I may retrieve the crystal and take the power of my birth rite.” The dragon says, “ Ah, Zordon has found a candidate to take over the power. I have guarded this temple for thousands of years. I shall allow you passage to the other side, only if you defeat me in battle.” Matt says, “ Let’s get it on.”
With that, the dragon flies up and whips Matt with his tail. Matt flies back and hits a rock wall. He gets up and takes out his sword. The dragon spews a huge flame at Matt. He is engulfed in fire, but cuts through it with his sword. Matt jumps through and slashes at the beast. The dragon flies back and goes for another attack. Matt, tired but still fighting, jumps to his left, and goes into the air striking down onto the dragon’s head. The dragon goes to the sky once again and says, “ You are worthy to pass Matt of the line of Ichigo. Take the power of fire and expel the evil from the universe.” The dragon swoops down back into the lava and Matt is free to pass.
He walks to the central area and removes the fiery red crystal from its stand. Matt walks down the path again, but the volcano starts to erupt. He runs down the bridge, which is melting with every step. He jumps onto the cavern area and runs for his life until he reaches the outside. He slides down on his feet down the mountain and jumps, still 100 feet in the air, when all of a sudden the dragon emerges and catches Matt on his back. He lands down next to Zordon and thanks the dragon that replies, “ It is no problem Matt. Because of your bravery, I shall become your companion and zord. I was once the companion of Ichigo, but when he stored his power in the depths of the volcano, he left me to guard them. Now, 600 years later I am free. It will be an honor to serve you.” Matt says, “ Great, but what do I do now? I have school and my parents, what will they say?” Zordon says, “ You won’t miss either of them. But you must learn to control your powers, and use them. We don’t know what or when the evil will arrive. Now we must go to Root Corps and have you learn to control fire. A great sorceress by the name of Udonna shall teach you.”
In the sky, the Black Tribunal of Magic member appears. He says, “ Your time is up Zordon.” Zordon says, “ I know. Matt, you must train everyday and prepare for the evil to come. After school everyday you must use your dragon to go and train with Udonna. Once you have mastered that she will send you to your next task. I must go now Matt, but may the power protect.” Matt says, “ Will I ever see you again?” Zordon who is walking down the beach, turns and says, “ Maybe, but remember what I have told you. I am ready.” The Black Tribunal of Magic member waves his hands and he and Zordon disappear.
Matt says, “ Well that was odd. What do we do now?” The dragon replies, “we go to Root Corps.” Matt agrees and gets on the dragons back. They fly off to Root Corps.
Scene 6
Place: Root Corps
The dragon lands in the forest and Matt gets off his back. The dragon says, “ I will fly off now, but if you need me, you can reach me telepathically.” Matt says, “ Alright, but where do I go?” The dragon says, “ Keep going straight until you see a giant tree with a dragon mouth. Knock on it and introduce yourself to the witch there.” Matt nods and the dragon flies off.
After walking for a few minutes he finds Root Corps and does what the dragon says. After his second knock the mouth of the stone dragon opens and a woman with red hair dressed in white comes out. She says, “ Ah, I presume that you are the chosen warrior by the great Zordon.” Matt says, “ Yes. I have been chosen by Zordon to be the Red Sacred Guardian of Fire. He told me to come here and said that you would teach me how to master the art of fire.” The witch says, “ Yes, I am that person. My name is Udonna and I am the white witch. Come inside won’t you.” Matt follows Udonna into the Root Corps as the mouth closes behind them.
Scene moves to the two walking into the center of Root Corps where a younger Claire is trying out a spell. She accidentally turns her doll into a vat of goo. She gets frustrated and yells. Udonna says, “ Calm down my child, you will get the hang of it soon enough, “ and turns the goo back into a doll, “ This is our new friend Matt.” Claire smiles and blushes because she didn’t notice Matt enter with Udonna. Matt says, “ Hi Claire, I see your learning magic, too.” She nods and is still blushing. Matt says, “ So Udonna, when do we start?” Udonna says, “ We start now. Claire, can you go outside and play for a little while, Matt and I must do some work.” Claire says, “ Ok. Bye Matt.” She leaves.
Udonna says, “ The first thing any sorcerer must learn is to concentrate. He must focus his energy into one thing. His mind must be completely empty except for the task at hand. I cannot teach you concentration, you must learn that yourself. Once you have mastered that, you can learn how to control anything you want. Our first lesson is meditation. You must focus on this single flame,” She flicks her wand at a candle and the wick is set ablaze, “ and make it into a raging fire.” Matt says, “ Sounds easy enough,” and sits on a mat in front of the candle. For two hours Matt sat there concentrating when suddenly he gets it to become a huge fire. He can’t control it, so an almost asleep Udonna jumps up, says a spell, and extinguishes the fire. She says, “ That was good, with a little practice you shall be able to make flame portals- that only work on Earth of course-, a flame from your hand, and even turning your sword on fire. It is late now, we will meet tomorrow for more practice.” Matt says, “ Thanks Udonna. I thought it would be easy, but I guess I was wrong. I’ll be back 3 o’clock sharp. He waves her good-bye, walks out and calls on the dragon to take him home.
After a multitude of sessions over 3 years, Matt mastered the art of fire. One day Udonna says to him, “ My work with you is done. I have taught you everything I know. You must go to the Wind Ninja Academy to learn to strengthen your technological and physical skills.” Matt says, “ Ugh, more training. Thanks for all your help Udonna.” She says, “ It was my pleasure. But remember, the evil may come at anytime. You are the Earth’s only hope.” Matt says, “ I know. I don’t plan to disappoint,” He opens a fire portal, “ Bye. Hope to come across your path again Udonna.” She says, “ I’m sure we will.” Matt leaves.
Scene 7
Place: Wind Ninja Academy, In front of the dojo. The time is the year 2000.
A fire portal opens and Matt walks out. He says, “ So this is the Wind Ninja Academy. Huh, not that impressive.” He walks up to the door, but 20 ninja students stop him. Matt engages them in battle. One red ninja kicks him, but Matt blocks while simultaneously kicking a blue ninja behind him. He then jumps on top of box and throws one ninja at the crowd. They all take out their bokkens, so Matt takes out his sword. All of a sudden the Sensei along with his son come out. He yells, “ Stop!” The ninjas stop and bow. Matt says, “ So you are the Sensei?” He says, “ Yes I am the Sensei of the Wind Ninja Academy. You must be Matt. Udonna told me you were coming.” Matt gets down from the box and puts away his sword. He says, “ Yes I am, and I’m ready to train.” Sensei smiles and introduces him to his son Cam. They walk into the school.
Over the course of 3 years Matt juggled college, social life, and training. At the academy, the Sensei trained him in the art of stealth, sword, and meditation. Every morning he would meditate for 2 hours. For another hour he would practice fighting and swordsmanship with the other ninjas. Cam taught him computer and zord programming. But one day in 2003, it all changed.
Lothor came to earth and stole the Wind Ninja Academy students. He also turned the Sensei into a hamster. Matt said to Cam, “ I’ll stay and fight.” Cam says, “ No, my dad said that if this time ever came, 3 others would fight. You must leave. He told me to send you to a guy named Val outside your hometown Angel Grove.” Cam hands Matt 3 scrolls and says “ Take these and leave. If you get caught or killed, all hope for Earth shall be lost.” Matt nods and opens a fire portal to go to Val’s home.
Scene 8
Place: Outside Angel Grove, Val, a semi-old man’s house, 2003
Matt jumps out of his portal and walks up to the dilapidated house. “ Wow, this looks like shit.” He steps on the doorstep, when all of a sudden the ground below him caves in and he is sliding down a tube. Matt lands on a hard floor in a room filled with computer screens, ancient scrolls, and weapons. Matt says, “ I was not expecting that. Hey, what’s this over here?” “Don’t touch that!!!” screams a man who walks through an automatic door, “That’s a SG- Blaster. Who are you anyways?” “My name is Matt. I was sent here by the sensei at the Wind Ninja Academy. He was attacked by some alien named Lothor,” says Matt. “So you must be the chosen one. My name is Val. Do not worry about him, he’ll be alright.” Matt says, “ How do you know?” Val says, “ I know because I am an oracle. Many years ago I foretold of this event. 3 warriors not unlike yourself shall come and get rid of Lothor. But you, I have been waiting for you. Many years ago I also foretold of a warrior who must get rid of another evil, one even greater than Lothor.” Matt pulls out the scrolls from his bag and says, “ So you can tell me what these mean then.” Val replies, “ Well, not exactly. I may give prophecies, but the meanings are not always clear. They will come true, but their interpretations are up to the reader. These scrolls though are the most specific ones I have made. The first one says that you, the leader, must get two past warriors and two new warriors to team up. The second and third are not as clear, but a wise person may be able to figure them out. The second says that a dark warrior shall fight for evil but then justice. And finally, the third states that the messenger shall bring the pure essence to the golden beast so that they may fuse and finally get rid of chaos.” Matt says, “ Whoa, so I have to find a team, a dark warrior, and a golden beast.” Val says, “ Yes and no. All these shall come true in time. But for now you must learn how to become a power ranger.”
Val hands Matt a morpher that is like a cell phone, but with a robot and a vehicle symbol on the inside keypads and with a fire red color on the outside. Val says, “ Take this, it’s your morpher. Put your crystal in the holding station over there. When synced up, you can release your power and morph into a ranger by pressing the green button and saying, ‘Guardian Ranger Power!’.” Matt walks over to the station and places his crystal on it. On each side of the station are two more platforms for the future rangers to follow. Val says, “ Well try it out.” Matt says the phrase and presses the button and morphs into the Red Sacred Guardian of Fire. His suit has red coming down his chest in a “V” shape with white underneath. On his arms are red with a white stripe coming down. His gloves are white with an orange triangle with red dots in a star form. At the end of the glove on the forearm is a fiery symbol. His pants are red with white stripes going down and his boots are red with a fiery band on the shin. His belt has silver band with a buckle, which is gold with five red dots arranged in a star. On his left side is an empty holster and on the right is his sword.
Val hands him an SG- Blaster and says, “ Now you’re a ranger.” Matt takes off his helmet that is red with fire streaks on the side and says, “ Yeah, but now what?” Val says, “ We wait. We wait for the enemy, the allies, and the battle. You go home, get some sleep, you’ve trained hard these past few years.” Matt shakes his and says, “Alright, but how did you make all this and know so much?” Val says. “ I’ve been around for a few centuries, you pick things up with age.” They laugh and scene ends.
